And just like that, all the flowers are withering away, we are seeing less and less of bees and butterflies, the leaves are changing colors and falling, and we all up North know snow is just around the corner. But all in all I’m actually looking forward to it this year. This summer was very eventful and many unexpected things happened, and I just find myself longing for a new season. 🍁
Do you ever find yourself longing for change? Maybe feeling stuck and desiring something new? I can attest to that. I’ve been longing for change myself for a long time, but I hear God calling me to be content. To feel fulfilled in the present. To enjoy today, and not worry about tomorrow, as He says, “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
I pray that the Lord provides the strength for me (and maybe you) to remain content, in my home, with my family, life, community, and all else. .
Continuing with our cultivated crops study this term, today we took a field trip to mn_arb to check out their crops. It’s beautiful to see how the Lord clothes them all and provides food for us and for the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.

This is Teddy's flowers. His grave is planted with all 'Golden' things. Those sunflowers are Teddy Golden sunflowers, and those weird plants?... That is Golden Amaranth. The tallest of them are almost 6 feet so far. For those of you gluten free/ alternative grain people, I read that each plant can yield up to a pound of seeds. They can then be ground like wheat, or just used as 'grain'. You can eat the leaves too. Perhaps this fall I will make Teddy Bread. I'll see how the harvest goes.
Those white flowers behind him are Bella...a sister. It is a Hydrangea bush. Woof.
I love sharing about self care with you and today I want to get practical. I know we see #selfcare on Instagram looking like bathtubs filled with dried flowers and surrounded by candles, a glass of wine and Netflix on the laptop… which is lovely for those who have that kind of time! I mean if you do, by all means, do it! (and send me a picture for #inspiration!!)
Sometimes self-care can look as simple as this...
❤️Chug water first thing in the morning. You just went (hopefully) quite a few hours without hydration! Give your organs a running start for the day!
❤️Think of 3 things to be thankful for and say them out loud. Trust me! Turn your mood around or determine the direction of your day. You might be surprised by the power of gratitude! You might be surprised at how powerful gratitude is! If you want, you can even take the step of writing them down and keep a growing list every day!
❤️Make a menu for the week and/or meal-prep. Wanting to eat healthy and fuel your body can sound simple… until the week gets rolling and life happens!
❤️Try adding something new to your fitness routine! What’s something you haven’t done before? It’s said that a little adaptability goes a LONG way, especially in fitness! Stretch yourself and try some yoga!
What’s your favorite form of self-care?
