“Trust and worry cannot go together.” Often times we stop to pray and say we trust God with our circumstances and situations only to get up moments later still carrying the weight of it all. It’s much harder to walk in the joy and freedom God has made available to us when we are carrying the weight we were never meant to carry. Hannah Smith said it like this, “What is needed for happy effectual service is simply to put your work into the Lord's hand, and leave it there. Do not take it to Him in prayer, saying, ‘Lord, guide me, Lord, give me wisdom, Lord, arrange for me,’ and then arise from your knees, and take the burden all back, and try to guide and arrange for yourself. Leave it with the Lord, and remember that what you trust to Him you must not worry over nor feel anxious about. Trust and worry cannot go together.”
May the Lord enlighten you
through the teachings of Jesus Christ
and strengthen you as you walk in his light.
May the Lord give you joy
as he shows you his Fatherly mercies
new every morning.
May the Lord give you wisdom in happiness,
comfort in suffering,
rest in death,
and one day,
the peace of eternal life.

It’s moments like these that actually make me emotional. keridailey and I know these times won’t last forever. Our boys won’t always want us to read to them. Lord give us wisdom in this short season to parent these mighty men of God in training. #storytime #parenting
Do you go after wisdom? And I don’t mean knowledge. Wisdom is both the ability to discern what is best and the strength of character to act upon that knowledge.
When I first became a PA and felt extremely intimidated by the huge learning curve of guarding people’s health, I sought the Lord for wisdom over all other things. I recall the long drive to work each day and the prayers that went with me.
My prayer was always that the Lord would give me wisdom. I would say “I don’t want riches or to be in the spotlight. Just help me to know and to do what is best for people.” I know Mark has prayed similarly.
Time and again that sixth sense that comes from the Holy Spirit would overwhelm me and I knew it was wisdom speaking— book knowledge would say that this patient is fine, but wisdom told me otherwise. Acting in wisdom paid off.
This isn’t a pat on my back. I recognize that none of that comes from me. I’m not that smart and certainly not wise, but when the Holy Spirit is leading, the combination of knowledge and discernment takes the lead.
I have not chosen wisdom in every area of my life though. I oftentimes don’t ACT which you’ll notice is a key component of wisdom. We can have tons of knowledge but it does us no good if we don’t ACT and use discernment.
Thank God He continues to patiently teach us!!
My heart’s desire is to go after wisdom and chase it with Fire in my feet! “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NIV Do you need wisdom too?
Proverbs 8:17 says that wisdom “loves those who love me, and those who seek me find me.” Seek wisdom by asking God and then ACT!
