Thankful to be reunited with my dear teacher ramaswamisrivatsa along with old and new friends studying the YOGA RAHAYSA at chicagoyogacenter Our teacher learned the book from the master Krishnamacharya.
The book is fascinating and written for both students and teachers. It focuses on (among other things) the practice and philosophy of Bhakti Yoga (yoga of love, devotion), asanas, pranayama, how to tailor appropriate individual practices according to life stage and constitution. The Rahaysa is one of the first books to discuss yoga for women. It specifically addresses women’s needs and yoga for pregnancy. About 20% of the slokas are dedicated yoga for women, children and pregnancy. “Nathamuni's Yoga Rahasya, this is a precious text in the history of yoga, attributed to Vaisnavite saints over a thousand years ago. When I was studying with him he extensively would quote from Yoga Rahasya (Secret of Yoga). Subsequently he dictated the text over a long period of time. It contains four chapters and contains a wealth of information about Sri Krishnamacharya's traditional yoga as transmitted to him by the grace of Sage Nathamuni.” - Srivatsa Ramaswami
Feeling nourished and inspired. Thank you Ramaswamiji. 🙏🏽 #study #practice #bhakti #iloveyoga
